Who should take BARACLUDE?

Deciding on treatment with a chronic hepatitis B medicine

If you have chronic (or long-term) hepatitis B, you and your doctor may decide that a chronic hepatitis B medicine such as BARACLUDE® (entecavir) is right for you.

  • BARACLUDE is a prescription medicine used for chronic infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) in adults where the virus is multiplying and damaging the liver. BARACLUDE does not cure hepatitis B virus or stop you from spreading hepatitis B to others.
  • BARACLUDE may reduce the amount of hepatitis B virus in your body, which may give your liver a chance to improve. Individual results may vary.
You should not take BARACLUDE if you:
  • Are allergic to any of the ingredients of this chronic hepatitis B medicine, including the active ingredient in BARACLUDE, entecavir. Please see the Patient Information for a full list of ingredients.
  • Are less than 16 years old. BARACLUDE has not been studied in children; it is not recommended for anyone less than 16 years old.

Ask your doctor how BARACLUDE may lower the level of HBV in your blood and reduce liver damage. Only your doctor can decide if BARACLUDE, or any chronic hepatitis B medicine, is right for you.
